Can anyone believe that most American churches remotely resemble churches as defined and exemplified in the New Testament? I have talked to many believers over the years who have stated that churches are now “businesses.” This is true of the great majority of churches. Their authority for church organization and conduct is no longer God’s Word. They claim to be “building the kingdom,” but organize and operate according to man’s business principles as they build their worldly organizations with high paid officers and magnificent edifices. See, The Religion Business.

They simply do not understand that they are violating their relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, the Bridegroom of the church. The church is now espoused to the Lord Jesus. One day, he will marry his bride.

Ephesians 5:22-27: “Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.”

In spite of the fact that the First Amendment and corresponding state constitutional provisions guarantee religious freedom, they choose to contract with government through incorporation and 501(c)(3) or 508(c)(1)(A) federal tax exempt status. These worldly relationships help them as they pursue temporal earthly goals. On the other hand, God is grieved. I am convinced that they have left their first love and that the Lord Jesus has removed their “candlestick out of his place.” See, Revelation 2:1-7. Christ is standing outside their door knocking. See, Revelation 3:14-20.

This website examines God’s truths concerning this marriage relationship in great detail. See “Table of Contents” below. The authority for all matters covered is the Word of God.

ProstituteThe Question that Changed My Life
by David Ryser

“A number of years ago, I had the privilege of teaching at a school of ministry. My students were hungry for God, and I was constantly searching for  ways to challenge them to fall more in love with Jesus and to become voices  for revival in the Church. I came across a quote attributed most often to  Rev. Sam Pascoe. It is a short version of the history of Christianity, and  it goes like this:

“‘Christianity started in Palestine as a fellowship; it moved to Greece and became a philosophy; it moved to Italy and became an institution; it moved to Europe and became a culture; it came to America and became an enterprise.’

“Some of the students were only 18 or 19 years old–barely out of diapers–and I wanted them to understand and appreciate the import of the last line, so I clarified it by adding, ‘An enterprise. That’s a business.’ After a few moments Martha, the youngest student in the class, raised her hand. I could not imagine what her question might be. I thought the little vignette was self-explanatory, and that I had performed it brilliantly. Nevertheless, I acknowledged Martha’s raised hand, ‘Yes, Martha.’ She asked such a simple question, ‘A business? But isn’t it supposed to be a body?’ I could not envision where this line of questioning was going, and the only response I could think of was, ‘Yes.’ She continued, ‘But when a body becomes a business, isn’t that a prostitute?’ …”

Analysis of False Reasons of Christians and Lawyers for Church Corporate and/or 501(c)(3) or 508(c)(1)(A) Tax-Exempt Status or Legal Status of any Kind (i.e., for church spiritual fornication)

On June 8, 2023, Pastor Ben Hickam gave the following sermon which is especially relevant for pastors in America concerning the matter of church organization and God’s doctrine for churches , civil government, and God’s desired relationship between church and state. Nor do they have knowledge of how to apply those doctrines in the American landscape, of which their knowledge is either nil, limited, or wrong.

  1. Notes to sermon, “Reactions to God’s Instructions,” by Pastor Ben Hickam, one of two sermons on June 8, 2025 posted at https://www.facebook.com/search/top?q=charity%20baptist%20tabernacle%20amarillo%20tx  Sometimes one who is trying to find out about something new does not know enough to ask the right questions. For the believer, the best place to start is to ask the Lord to teach you what you don’t know and then by going to the ultimate authority, God’s Word. Without that start, one does not know where to start to comprehend what he is talking about. They don’t take the time to read, to go to the source of wisdom on a given matter to get the precepts, principles, etc. and then to apply or use them.
Three reactions by Christians to God’s Instruction (Listen to the sermon for the details):
    (1) They refuse it. They say, “I already know all about that,” or “I already know better,” etc. Fools despise instruction from God’s Word.
    (2) Choose it.
    (3) Use it. Some who choose it do not use it. Some do use it. The latter say, “If I have done iniquity, I will do it no more.” They use God’s Wisdom and it does not remain in their head. A lot of people will sell out their spiritual heritage for a bowl of porridge.
  2. Notes to sermon, “Bearing the Ark,(Sermon begins at 14′ 35″) one of two sermons given by Pastor Ben Hickam given on June 22, 2025 and posted at https://www.facebook.com/search/top?q=charity%20baptist%20tabernacle%20amarillo%20tx (In this sermon, Pastor Ben applies the lessons David and the Israelites learned from the mistake David made in handling the ark. David cared but he was careless in retrieving the ark.  They used a cart instead of carrying the ark as God specified. It was quicker and easier to do so. The Israelites were never to touch holy things. The principles and lessons learned from this incident apply to believers and churches today. We as believers are to do things God’s way. Churches use the world’s model for organization and operation. They are worldly organizations as opposed to spiritual organisms. God judged David and Israel for their disobedience in this matter. He was teaching them that (1) Blessings follow obedience but judgment follows disobedience; (2) they could have fellowship with God; (3) there is unity in service; (4) to fear God; (5) to get close to God. (6) He wanted to give men a burden.)

Most pastors and believers in America have never studied the Bible doctrines of church, state, and God’s desired relationship between church and state. They have not studied the application of those doctrines. They have not studied the true history and meaning of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution to determine if what they have been led to believe by their “Christian” authorities such as David Barton, William Federer, David Gibbs, and others is true. They have not studied methods of church/state union such as incorporation, 501(c)(3) or 508(c)(1)(A) federal “tax-exemption” to determine if those methods please God. They have not sought out a way to organize a church God’s way, God’s Simply Church way. They have not studied the word of God to find the consequences of using methods disapproved by God. These and many related matters are covered in depth on this website.

Pastors and believers have focused on saving America while disregarding the problems with churches. How can they ever hope to save America when their churches are not in line with God’s word? In spite of all their work to save America, America continues to slide downward morally and spiritually at an accelerating rate. Yet they continue to follow the same methods and lies.

Does God, according to His Word, desire church and state to be separate or to unify? What are the consequences of violation of God’s principles and commands regarding church/state relationship? Is separation of church and state found in the Constitution?

To answer those and related questions, Jerald Finney, a born-again lawyer and leader of this Simply Church compiled, on this website, the results of years of work as a Christian activist in the political system and untold thousands of hours of study of the word of God, the King James Bible and well-documented history.

Very few “Christians” will take a serious look at the studies on this website. The life work on this website is dedicated to God and to those who will.

The local church sanctified and cleansed by the washing of water by the word——————–A ministry of Charity Baptist Tabernacle of Amarillo, Texas led by Pastor Ben Hickam. "Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me. For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ" (2 Corinthians 11:1-3). ————————————Jerald Finney, a Christian Lawyer and member of Charity Baptist Tabernacle, having received this ministry in the Lord, explains how a church in America can remain under the Lord Jesus Christ and Him only. "As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen" (1 Peter 4:10-11; See also, Ephesians 4::1-16 and 1 Corinthians 12:1-25). "Take heed to the ministry which thou hast received in the Lord, that thou fulfil it" (Colossians 4:17). "And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church" (Ephesians 1.22; See also, e.g. Colossians 1:18).
