Wilt Thou Be Made Whole?

The Doctrine of Redemption Introduced

(Bible Study of Ge. 3:14-4:5: Ge. 3:14-19 states the judgment of the fall; the first prophesy of the coming of the Savior; every man must, after this, make a decision; there is now to be a long struggle between good and evil (Jn. 8:44; Jn. 3:10); God’s first judgment of man; spiritual death (separation from God) comes to man; man must answer to God; the origin of bloody sacrifice; 4 great lessons from the fig leaves; man must have a substitute between him and God’s wrath; salvation when one takes his proper place as a sinner before God; in Ge. 3 we see the root of sin; in Ge. 4 we see the fruit of sin; Ge. 4 reveals what happens to man as the result of his sin; Ge. 4:1 reveals that Adam and Even did not anticipate that the struggle was going to be long; Cain and Abel  (see Hebrews 11:4: Abel offered by faith; Jude 11: Cain did not come by faith (He came on his own); Cain denied that man cannot offer works to God; as today, the difference was in the offering; Christ was made sin for us that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.)

Why God Accepted Abel

(Sermon: Ge.4:1-15; without Ge. 3, you would have no explanation of this world of sin and heartache; God provided a way for them back to Himself, a S
acrifice unto God; from that day until the present hour there has always been a way to God; if Adam and Eve could come back and see what has transpired because of their sin, their hearts would be broken; they did see the bloody body of their son Abel, killed by his brother Cain; Eve knew, from what God told her, that her seed would bruise the head of the serpent; it’s easy to see why God rejected Cain, but it’s not easy to see why God accepted Abel; the way of Cain is exemplified by many to this day; by faith, Abel offered a more excellent sacrifice …; “faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God;” God had given them a revelation that a blood sacrifice must be offered to God; the Lord respected Abel and his offerings; ascetically, Cain’s sacrifice is much more appealing; Abel knew that his bloody sacrifice could take away sin, that his sacrifice was a picture of the promised seed; Abel know why he was offering that sacrifice; Cain was religious as he could be, as religious as Abel; Abel was capable of murder, as are all men …; Cain was punished by God, but capital punishment was not enforced at this time because there was no law about murder; at the flood, God gave man jurisdiction over those who murder others; etc.)

Before one can understand the  matters presented on this website one who has been born in the flesh must choose to be born of the Spirit (See John 3).  The born again person has been made alive spiritually (1 Corinthians 6.9-12; Ephesians 2.1-10; Colossians 2.13-17).

1 Corinthians 2:14-16: “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.”

Therefore, the most important thing is to be saved, born of the Spirit. Then, one can begin to understand the things of the Spirit of God.

The law wasn’t given to save us, but to reveal that God is holy and that you and I are not holy. The way God saves us in the way of the cross. Christ is the way. …

From Queer To Christ

2. God’s Plan of Salvation

2SinThe most important question in life is, “Are you saved?” Your eternal destiny depends upon your answer. I am not asking you if you are a church member, how good you are, or how many good deeds you have done. I am asking you if you are saved. Have you recognized who you are, a worthless sinner who deserves hell, and that you can do nothing whatsoever to earn your salvation? Have you understood that the only way to salvation is “… repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ” (Acts 20.21)?

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). “Believe” implies, with this assent of the mind, a yielding of the will and affections, accompanied with a humble reliance on Christ for salvation. John 1:12. John 3:15.” 1828 WEBSTER’S DICTIONARY.

In John 3:3  “Jesus [said to Nicodemus], Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” In John 3:7, Jesus said to Nicodemus, “Ye must be born again.” Nicodemus then said unto Him: “How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?” (John 3:4). The Lord explained that one can be born spiritually:

1b“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.  The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit” (John 3:5-8)

Jesus explained how to be born again and why many do not choose to be born again:

Jo.3.19_1John 3:14-21:  “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.  But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.”

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:1-4 ). Put your faith in this Jesus, the Son of God, who was born or a virgin, lived a sinless life, died for our sins, was buried, and rose again.

From these and many other Scriptures in the Bible, one can see how repentance toward God and Faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ is necessary for salvation. To be saved, one must turn to God (repent) and come to the light (put his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ).

God tells us in other Scriptures in His Word, the Bible, how to be born again which means to be saved. He gives us His plan for salvation.

First, you must understand that you are a sinner. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Because you are a sinner, you are condemned to death. This includes eternal separation from God in Hell: “…it is appointed unto men once to die and after this the  judgment” (Hebrews 9:27). This means that you cannot earn your way to heaven since you are imperfect. This means that you cannot do enough good to pay the price for your sin.Sin3

But God loved you so much that He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus, to bear your sin and die in your place. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). For he hath made [Jesus,] to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him” (2 Corinthians 5:21).

Jesus had to shed His blood and die in order to save you. “For the life of the flesh is in the blood” (Leviticus 17:11). “…and without shedding of blood is no remission” (Hebrews 9:22).

Ro.3.10,23“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). My sins and your sins were laid upon Jesus and He died in our place. He became our substitute. In other words, Jesus Christ paid the price for the sin of every person ever born or to be born.

The Philippian jailer asked Paul and Silas, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved”… (Acts 16:30-31).

Simply recognize that you are a sinner, repent toward God (see Jerald Finney’s Bible study notes on Repentance for more on repentance), and put your faith in Jesus Christ as the one who bore your sin, died in your place, was buried, and whom God resurrected. His resurrection powerfully assures that the believer can claim everlasting life when Jesus is received as Savior.  “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name” (John 1:12). “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation…. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10.9-10, 13). You are included.

zAs indicated above, inherent in believing on the Lord Jesus Christ is repentance. “And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent” (Acts 17:30). This need for repentance is made clear through teachings throughout the Bible. Jesus said at the beginning of His ministry, “… Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matthew 4.17); and later, “I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish” (Luke 13:3). The Apostle Paul spoke of the repentance necessary for salvation: “Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ” (Acts 20:21). See Scripture Study on “Repentance, the New Creature, the New Life, and Changed Behavior.”

Repentance, turning to God as a lost sinner in need of a Saviour, and trusting or putting one’s faith in the Lord Jesus Christ brings salvation. “Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing.  For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter (2 Corinthians 7:9-11).”

Does shedding tears mean repentance? Both Ruth and Orpah shed tears. Only one repented. Dr. McGee explains repentance and salvation from one of his broadcasts on the book of Ruth. To hear his short 8 min. 23 sec. study on Ruth 1.14-18, click here.

Surely, you realize you are a sinner. Right now, wherever you are, repenting, lift your heart to God in prayer.

Salvation7

In Luke 18:13, the sinner prayed: “God be merciful to me a sinner.” Just pray. Just cry out to God. There are no magic words. This is the prayer, paraphrased, which I turned to God and prayed many years ago: “Oh God, I know I am a sinner. I know that I cannot be good enough to earn salvation.  If I were to do the best I could to keep your commandments, to be good, to love my neighbor as myself for the rest of my life and then die and go to hell, I would be getting exactly what I deserve. But your Word, the Bible, assures me that I do not have to depend upon my good works, that I can repent toward God and place my faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. I believe Jesus died on the Cross for my sins and as a substitute for me. I believe His shed blood, death, burial, and resurrection were for me. I now receive Him as my Savior. I thank You for the forgiveness of my sins, the gift of salvation and everlasting life, because of Your merciful grace.”

[I would suggest acknowledgement of the following in one’s salvation prayer]: I acknowledge that your plan for me now is to follow you, love you, please you, and glorify you. Guide me to a local autonomous Bible believing church wherein I may be baptized and then edified so that I may continue to follow and please you, for your Glory, Amen.” God did show me the matters in the addendum above and He did lead me to a local autonomous Bible believing church where I was baptized and joined to that church body. I have continued to seek to follow Him since that day, the day on which he made me a “new creature,” the day old things passed away and all things became new.

18Repent (turn to God) and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ to save you, and and He will save you. Your good works, your church, nothing but Jesus can save you. Only God does the saving.

“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36). Be sure you are saved. If you lose your soul, you miss Heaven and lose all. Please! Let God save you this very moment.

  1. Don’t trust in the fact that you prayed a prayer, but in what Christ did for you. Too many people believe that because they prayed a prayer or asked Jesus into their heart that they are saved. That is a lie of the devil. You can get anyone to repeat a prayer and they will forever after wonder if they are truly saved because they don’t know if they were sincere enough or prayed hard enough. That is works, not salvation. Salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.

Churches under Christ Ministry Website: Understanding and Applying God's Principles for Church Headship "Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me. For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ" (2 Corinthians 11:1-3). ————————————This Ministry is under the authority of Charity Baptist Tabernacle of Amarillo, Texas. Jerald Finney, a Christian Lawyer and member of Charity Baptist Tabernacle, having received this ministry in the Lord, explains how a church in America can remain under the Lord Jesus Christ and Him only. "As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen" (1 Peter 4:10-11; See also, Ephesians 4::1-16 and 1 Corinthians 12:1-25). "Take heed to the ministry which thou hast received in the Lord, that thou fulfil it" (Colossians 4:17). "And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church" (Ephesians 1.22; See also, e.g. Colossians 1:18).
