I Cannot Lose My Faith

Jerald Finney, August 20, 2019

According to the latest news, many “Christians” are renouncing or leaving their faith. See, e.g.,

Should a “Christian” renounce his faith, he never had the faith of the son of God. God never saved him. He never repented toward God and trusted the Lord Jesus Christ to save him.

I cannot lose my faith because Christ saved me, regenerated me, sanctified me, washed me, made a new creature of me, adopted me into the family of God, lives in me, will never forsake me, gave me eternal life starting the day of my salvation, made me to walk in heavenly places…. Without repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, no one can be saved. As to losing my life in Christ:

Galatians 2:20: “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”

John 3:3-8: “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.”

John 3:16-21: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.”

John 5:24: “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”

Romans 8:14-17: “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.”

Romans 8:38-39: “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

He saved me and He will keep me, according to His Word which He will not break.

To learn how to be saved, according to the Word of God, see God’s Plan of Salvation.

Note. That a believer cannot lose his salvation does not mean that he will not be judged: “Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad” (2 Corinthians 5:9-10).  Every believer will be rewarded according to his good or evil conduct. For the sweep of the decree as quoted from Isaiah is absolutely universal:  “. . . every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.” So then, since it is universal and believers are, therefore, not exempt: “every one of us shall give account of himself to God.” (Romans 14:11-12). “But why dost thou judge thy brother? Or why dost thou set at naught thy brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ” (Romans 14:10).

  1. It is impossible to lose something that you never had. The Scriptures given above by Brother Finney are sufficient evidence of that.
The pseudo-Christianity that is popular today in new evangelicalism is not Biblical Christianity of the Biblical Jesus.
I’ve heard countless “testimonies” on a modern “Christian” radio station where the caller was having a bad day, or was lost, or some other malady until “by chance” they tuned in and heard a song from one of the contemporary artists that uplifted them.
This is a feel-good Christianity based on emotions and feelings that have nothing to do with faith in Christ.
Countless people who have “asked Jesus into their heart” without hearing a word about repentance from sin, new life in Christ, righteousness and judgment, are blindly following these religious pied-pipers deeper and deeper into the pit.
We are warned in The Scriptures about another gospel, another spirit, and another Jesus.
This about sums it up in modern Christianity in this country.

  2. It also says in Ephesians 1:13
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise

    And in Ephesians 4:30
And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

These two verses remind us that as true receivers of the gift of Christ that we then receive the seal of promise of the Holy Spirit which cannot be removed. So a true Christian, believer in Christ, cannot fall away. And if they do they were never a true believer to begin with.
