Palestinian Covenant

“* * * The future blessing of Israel as a nation rests upon the Palestinian Covenant of restoration and conversion (Deut. 30.1-9, refs.), and the Davidic Covenant of the Kingship of the Messiah, David’s Son (2 Sam. 7.8-17, refs.), and this gives to predictive prophecy its Messianic character.  The exaltation of Israel is secured in the kingdom, and the kingdom takes its power to bless from the Person of the King, David’s Son, but also “Immanuel. … The predictions of the restoration from the Babylonian captivity at the end of seventy years, must be distinguished from those of the restoration from the present world-wide dispersion. The context is always clear. The Palestinian Covenant Deu 28.1-30.9 is the mould of predictive prophecy in its larger sense–national disobedience, world-wide dispersion, repentance, the return of the Lord, the regathering of Israel and establishment of the kingdom, the conversion and blessing of Israel, and the judgment of Israel’s oppressors. … Speaking broadly, then, predictive prophecy is occupied with the fulfilment of the Palestinian and Davidic Covenants; the Abrahamic Covenant having also its place…. The Palestinian Covenant Deu 28.1-30.9 is the mould of predictive prophecy in its larger sense–national disobedience, world-wide dispersion, repentance, the return of the Lord, the regathering of Israel and establishment of the kingdom, the conversion and blessing of Israel, and the judgment of Israel’s oppressors.”).

De. 29:1 “These are the words of the covenant [which some call the Palestinian covenant], which the LORD commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, beside the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.”

The Lord tells the Israelites not to break the covenant: E.g., De. 29:9 “Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do.”

God knows they will break this covenant: E.g., De. 31:16 “And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers; and this people will rise up, and go a whoring after the gods of the strangers of the land, whither they go to be among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them.”

Nevertheless, it is an everlasting covenant since it depends upon God, not the Israelites for fruition. See the studies below and check out the Bible for verification.

Many more verses given below to show the Bible truth about this covenant.

De. 30.3 and N1 p250. (The Palestinian Covenant gives the conditions under which Israel entered the land of promise.  It is important to see that the nation has never as yet taken the land under the unconditional Abrahamic Covenant, nor has it ever possessed the whole land (cf. Gen. 15.18, with Num. 34.1-12). The Palestinian Covenant is in seven parts:
(1) Dispersion for disobedience, v. 1 (Deut. 28.63-68. See Gen. 15.18, note).
(2) The future repentance of Israel while in the dispersion, v.2.
(3) The return of the Lord, v.3 (Amos 9.9-14; Acts 15.14-17).
(4) Restoration to the land, v. 5 (Isa. 11.11, 12; Jer. 23.3-8; Ezk. 37.21-25).
(5) National conversion, v.6 (Rom. 11.26, 26; Hos. 2.14-16).
(6) The judgment of Israel’s oppressors, v. 7 (Isa. 14.1,2; Joel 3.1-8; Mt. 25.31-46).

N2 to Le. 23.24, p157 “Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.” (The feast of Trumpets, Le 23:23-25. This feast is a prophetical type and refers to the future regathering of long-dispersed Israel. A long interval elapses between Pentecost and Trumpets, answering to the long period occupied in the pentecostal work of the Holy Spirit in the present dispensation. Study carefully Isa 18:3; 27:13 (with contexts); Isa 58:1-14 (entire chapter), and Joe 2:1-3:21 in connection with the “trumpets,” and it will be seen that these trumpets, always symbols of testimony, are connected with the regathering and repentance of Israel after the church, or pentecostal period is ended. This feast is immediately followed by the day of atonement. Margin: seventh month, i.e. October; also Le 23:27,34,39,41.)

N3 to Le. 23.27, p157 “Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.” (The day of Atonement, Le 23:26-32. The day is the same described in Lev. 16., but here the stress is laid upon the sorrow and repentance of Israel. In other words, the prophetical feature is made prominent, and that looks forward to the repentance of Israel after her regathering under the Palestinian Covenant, De 30:1-10 preparatory to the second advent of Messiah and the establishment of the kingdom. See the connection between the “trumpet” in Joe 2:1 and the mourning which follows in verses Joe 2:11-15. Also Zec 12:10-13 in connection with the atonement of Zec 13:1. Historically the “fountain” of Zec 13.1 was opened at the crucifixion, but rejected by the Jews of that and the succeeding centuries. After the regathering of Israel the fountain will be efficaciously “opened” to Israel. Margin: atonement Cmt. on Ex 29:33.)

Headnote to Deuteronomy: “… It is important to note that, while the land of promise was unconditionally given to Abraham and to his seed in the Abrahamic Covenant (Gen. 13.15; 15.7), it was under the conditional Palestinian Covenant (Deut. 28-30.9) that Israel entered the land under Joshua. Utterly violating the conditions of the covenant, the nation was first disrupted (1 Ki. 12) and then cast out of the land (2 Ki. 17.1-18; 14.1-25.11). But the same covenant unconditionally promises a national restoration of Israel which is yet to be fulfilled (Gen. 15.18, note).”

N2 to Ge. 25.2, p37 “Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah.” (As Sarah stands for “the mother of us all,” i.e. of those who, by grace, are one with the true Son of promise, of whom Isaac was the type Joh 3:6-8; Ga 4:26,28-29; Heb 2:11-13 and joint heirs of His wealth Heb 1:2; Ro 8:16-17, so Keturah (wedded after the full blessing of Isaac) and her children by Abraham may well stand for the fertility of Israel the natural seed, Jehovah’s wife Ho 2:1-23 after the future national restoration under the Palestinian covenant. Cmt. on De 30:3.)

  • Notice the reason God restores Israel. Ezekiel 36.22-23, 32: “22 Therefore say unto the house of Israel, thus saith the Lord GOD; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name’s sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went. 23 And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, saith the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes. 32 Not for your sakes I do this saith the Lord GOD, be it known unto you: be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of Israel.”
  • “One purpose for God setting aside the nation of Israel was to point other nations to God.  Israel failed miserably.  See Eze. 36 and many other passages in the OT.  Man always fails.  Only God succeeds.  Man was to glorify God, but man seeks his happiness, and seeks not to glorify God.  Even the purpose of most “Christians” is to “Go to Heaven.”  That is, to get happiness.  Happiness is a side benefit.  It is not to be a Christian’s motivation.
  • “Did God give us all the principles we need for success as individuals, as families, as nations knowing that we would always ultimately fail? Yes. He knew it from the beginning.  He knew we would totally destroy ourselves even with all His wisdom at our disposal. He knew that we would ultimately totally reject all his wisdom, statutes, and commandments.  And along the way, He knew that no one, at no time, would ever fully comprehend God and God’s ways. He knew man would blow it. Yet he loved us, every one of us.  Because of His love, He sent His own son, to pay the price for our monstrous sins. He gave each and every one of us a way out.  That way was not ourselves, our conscious, our virtues, government.  That way was His son.  Period.
  • “The battle right now is between Islam (which says Israel must be destroyed) and the God of the Bible (who promises to preserve the nation of Israel forever). The God Christians believe in is called ‘God of Israel’ 203 times in Scripture. Israel is the major topic of God’s Word. To be wrong about Israel is to miss most of what the Bible says! If the Muslims determination to destroy Israel is successful, them we will have to renounce Christianity as based on lies and all become Muslims! This is the issue.
  • “Three times Israel is called ‘the apple’ of God’s eye (Dt. 32.10; Lam. 2.18; Zec. 2.8). God promises the nation Israel He will bless those that bless her and curse those who curse her.  No such promises were ever given to any other nation. To suggest that Israel has only the rights God has given to all nations is a shocking rejection of clear biblical teaching! God distinctly tells Israel that He has “separated [and] severed [her] from other people (Lev. 20.24, 26) and that she will not be “reckoned among the nations” (Num. 23.9) because He has chosen her to be “a special people … above all people.(Dt. 7.6). God promises repeatedly, ‘O Israel … I am with thee … to save thee: though I make a full end of all nations whither I have scattered thee, yet will I not make a full end of thee.’ (Jer. 30.10.11).
  • “The Bible identifies the true god as ‘the God of Israel’ 203 times, ‘the God of Jacob’ 28 times, ‘the God of Abraham’ 17 times, and ‘the God of Isaac’ 13 times. Never is He called the God of any other ethnic group. These designations are foundational to everything the Bible teaches, including the character of God. To profess to believe in God and at the same time to hold a prejudice against God’s chosen people, the Jews, or against Israel, which turns these clear biblical identifications into meaningless titles, casts doubt upon whether one really knows the true God.” The Berean Call “God of Jacob, God of Israel, Part I,” p1, August 2006, Vol. XXI No.8, pp. 3, 5. N1 to Ps.. 68.1, p630 “To the chief Musician, A Psalm or Song of David. Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him.” (The entire Psalm is pervaded by the joy of Israel in the kingdom, but a stricter order of events begins with verse 18. This is quoted Eph 4:7-16 of Christ’s ascension ministry. Verses 21-23 refer to the regathering of Israel, and the destruction of the Beast and his armies. (See “Beast,” Cmt. on Da 7:8). (See “Beast,” Cmt. on Re 19:20). (See “Armageddon” Cmt. on Re 16:16Re 19:17-19. Verses 24-35 are descriptive of full and universal kingdom blessing. N1 p749 to Is. 41.8. “Three servants of Jehovah are mentioned in Isaiah: (1) David # Isa 37:35; (2) Israel the nation (Isa 41:8-16; 43:1-10; 44:1-8; 45:4; 48:20); (3) Messiah (Isa 42:1-12, Is 49)., entire chapter, but note especially Isa 49:5-7, where the Servant Christ restores the servant nation; (Isa 50:4-6; 52:13-15; 53:1-12). Israel the nation was a faithless servant, but restored and converted will yet thresh mountains. Against the Servant Christ no charge of unfaithfulness or failure is brought. Cmt. on Isa 42:1.”

Is. 42.13-25. The chastening of Israel.

Is. 43: Israel redeemed and restored. “5 Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west; 6 I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth;”

Is. 45: “17 But Israel shall be saved in the LORD with an everlasting salvation: ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end.” See Isa. 45.5-25.

Is. 48 explains that Israel will be restored & why. “4 Because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass. 8 Yea, thou heardest not; yea, thou knewest not; yea, from that time that thine ear was not opened: for I knew that thou wouldest deal very treacherously, and wast called a transgressor from the womb. 9 For my name’s sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off. 11 For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? And I will  not give by glory unto another.”

Is. 49. Isa. 49.8-21: Israel to be preserved & restored. “23 And kings shall be thy nursing fathers, and their queens thy nursing mothers: they shall bow down to thee with their face toward the earth, and lick up the dust of thy feet; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD: for they shall not be ashamed that wait for me.”

Is. 51 (Israel to be redeemed,: oppressors punished): “* * * 3 For the LORD shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody. * * *.”

Is. 52.1-12. Vision of Jerusalem in the kingdom-age.

Is. 52. “* * * 8 * * * when the LORD shall bring again Zion. * * * 9 * * * For the LORD hath comforted his people, he hath redeemed Jerusalem.”

Is. 54: (Israel the restored wife of Jehovah & security and blessing of restored Israel). “* * * 5 For thy maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy one of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called. * * *.” Jer. 3: “`14 Turn, O Backsliding children saith the LORD; for I am married unto you * * * 20 Surely as a wife treacherously departeth from her husband, so have ye dealt treacherously with me, O house of Israel, saith the LORD.”

Is. 61.3-62. Kingdom peace and blessing after the day of vengeance anticipated (Isa. 61.3-65.24). The restoration of Israel (EXTENDS TO Isa. 62.12).  62 “4 * * * and thy land shall be married.”

Is. 65.17-66.24. The eternal blessing of Israel in the new earth.

Is. 65.1-16 tells of all the bad things Israel, the rebellious people had done. Isa. 65.17-25, 66.1-24 tell of the eternal blessing of Israel in the new earth. N1 p769 to Isa. 17 “Verse 17 looks beyond the kingdom-age to the new heavens and the new earth (see refs. at “create”), but verses 18-25 describe the kingdom-age itself.  Longevity is restored, but death, the “last enemy” (1 Cor. 15.26), is not destroyed till after Satan’s rebellion at the end of the thousand years (Rev. 20.7-14).”

Je. 3. Israel and Judah have played the harlot.  “8 . . . backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce….”  God tells Jeremiah to tell Israel to repent and He will not cause His anger to fall upon Israel. “… for I am merciful, saith the LORD, and I will not keep anger for ever.” “14 Turn O backsliding children . . . for I am married unto you ….”

Je. 11-12 is the message on the broken covenant.  N1 p784 to Jer. 11.1: “This, like the other messages, is made up of rebuke, exhortation, and warning, but in this instance these are based upon the violation of the Palestinian Covenant (Deut. 28.1 to 30.1-9, note). The Assyrian and Babylonian Captivities of Israel and of Judah were the execution of the warning, Deut. 28.63-68.”

Je. 11.17-21. Israel to be restored to the land and converted.

N1 to Je. 14.1, p787. The significance of a drought at this time was very great. It was one of the signs predicted in the Palestinian Covenant (Deut. 28.23, 24), and already fulfilled in part in the reign of Ahab (I Ki. 17.1, etc.). As that sign had been followed, even though after a long interval, by the Assyrian captivity of the northern kingdom, it should have been received by Judah as a most solemn warning.

Je. 16.14-16: “15.c and I will bring them again into their land that I gave unto their fathers.”

Je. 23.1-40. The future restoration and conversion of Israel. This chapter tells the bad things the nation, the prophets, the priests, the people had done, and also “3 And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase. * * *.” “5 Behold, the days come  saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. 6 In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and t his is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.”

  1. 1 to Je. 23 p795. “This final restoration is shown to be accomplished after a period of unexampled tribulationJer30:3-10 and in connection with the manifestation of David’s righteous Branch Jer 23:5 who is also Jehovah-tsidkenu Jer 23:6. The restoration here foretold is not to be confounded with the return of a feeble remnant of Judah under Ezra, Nehemiah, and Zerubbabel at the end of the 70 years Jer 29:10. At His first advent Christ, David’s righteous Branch Lu 1:31-33 did not ‘execute justice and judgment in the earth,’ but was crowned with thorns and crucified. Neither was Israel the nation restored, nor did the Jewish people say, ‘The Lord our righteousness.’ Cf. Ro 10:3. The prophecy is yet to be fulfilled. Ac 15:14-17.”

Je. 24 speaks of both the good and the evil and the good people who will be deported & the evil who remain in Judah and those who dwell in Egypt.  God says he will remove the evil “into all the kingdoms of the earth for their hurt, to be a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places whither I shall drive them * * * and will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, among them, till they be consumed from off the land that I gave unto them and their fathers. Vs9-10.” But he will “set [his] eyes upon [the good] for their good, and [] will bring them again to this land: and [] will build them, and not pull them down; and [] will plant them, and not pluck them up. V6.”

  • Je. 30.8-11, 16-24; 31; 32.37-44: Israel will be restored.
“31.8 Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the coasts of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: a great company shall return thither. * * * 31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: 32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: 33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. * * *.”
  • “32.32 Because of all the evil of eh children of Israel and of he children of Judah, which they have done to provoke me to anger, they their kings, their princes, their priests, and their prophets, and the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 33-35 [their abominations given]. 36 * * * It shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence; 37 Behold, I will gather them out of all countries, wither I have driven them in mine anger, and in my fury, and in great wrath; and I will bring them again unto this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely: 38 And they shall be my people, and I will be their God: 39 and I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them, and of their children after them: 40 And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, and they shall not depart from me.  41 Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul. * * *.”
  • “33. [God will restore Israel and Judah]. 33.8 And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned, and whereby they have transgressed against me. * * * 14 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will perform that good thing which I have promised unto the house of Israel and to the house of Judah. 15 In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land. 16 In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this is the name wherewith she shall be called, The LORD our righteousness. * * *.”

Je. 46 “27 But fear thou, O my servant Jacob, and be not dismayed, O Israel: for, behold, I will save thee from afar off , and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and be in rest and at ease, and none shall make him afraid. 28 Fear thou not, O Jacob my servant, saith the LORD: for I am with thee; for I will make a full end of all the nations whither I have driven thee: but I will not make a full end of thee, but correcte thee in measure; yet will I not leave thee wholly unpunished.”

Je. 50. “19 And I will bring Israel again to his habitation, * * *. 20 * * * for I will pardon them whom I reserve.” 51. “5 For Israel hath not been forsaken, nor Judah of his god, of the LORD of hosts; though their land was filled with sin against the Holy One of Israel.”

N1 p847 to Ez. 8.3 (… [God gives] the divine view of the national sinfulness and apostasy, revealed to Ezekiel in a series of visions so vivid that though the prophet was by the river Chebar (Ezk. 1.1, 3; 3.23; 10.15, 20, 22; 43.3) it was as if he were transported back to Jerusalem, and to the time when these things were occurring.  These visions of the sinfulness of Israel are interspersed with promises of restoration and blessing which have yet to be fulfilled. See “Israel” (Gen. 12.2, 3; Rom. 11.26).  Also “Kingdom, (O.T.)” (Gen. 1.26-28; Zech. 12.8).).  God shows Eze., e.g., the profanations of the temple in 8.5-18.  After Ezekiel cries, “ Ah LORD God! Wilt thou make a full end of the remnant of Israel?” (Eze. 11.13b) God promises to spare the remnant. 14-16; and Israel to be restored to the land and converted. 17-21: “17 Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even gather you from the people, and assemble you out of the countries where ye have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel….” Ezk. 22.1-16: Israel’s sins enumerated.  Ezk. 22.23-31: Sins of the priests, princes, prophets, and people.

Ez. 11.17-21.

Ez.16:8 “Now when I passed by thee, and looked upon thee, behold, thy time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over thee, and covered thy nakedness: yea, I sware unto thee, and entered into a covenant with thee, saith the Lord GOD, and thou becamest mine.” [Bold emphasis mine].

Ez 16.32-59: “32 But as a wife that committeth adultery, which taketh strangers instead of her husband? 33 They give gifts to all whores: but thou givest thy gifts to all thy lovers, and hirest them, that they may come unto thee on every side for thy whoredom….”

Ez. 16.60-63: The promise of future blessing under the Palestinian Covenant (Deut. 30.1-10, noteand the New Covenant (Heb. 8.8-12, note). Ezekiel 16:60-63 “60 Nevertheless I will remember my covenant with thee in the days of thy youth, and I will establish unto thee an everlasting covenant. 61 Then thou shalt remember thy ways, and be ashamed, when thou shalt receive thy sisters, thine elder and thy younger: and I will give them unto thee for daughters, but not by thy covenant. 62 And I will establish my covenant with thee; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD: 63 That thou mayest remember, and be confounded, and never open thy mouth any more because of thy shame, when I am pacified toward thee for all that thou hast done, saith the Lord GOD.” [Bold emphasis mine].

Ez. 20:33-44: “33 As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out, will I rule over you: 34 And I will bring you out from the people, and will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out. 35 And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people, and there will I plead with you face to face. 36 Like as I pleaded with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I plead with you, saith the Lord GOD. 37 And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant: 38 And I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that transgress against me: I will bring them forth out of the country where they sojourn, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and ye shall know that I am the LORD. 39 As for you, O house of Israel, thus saith the Lord GOD; Go ye, serve ye every one his idols, and hereafter also, if ye will not hearken unto me: but pollute ye my holy name no more with your gifts, and with your idols. 40 For in mine holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, there shall all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, serve me: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings, and the firstfruits of your oblations, with all your holy things. 41 I will accept you with your sweet savour, when I bring you out from the people, and gather you out of the countries wherein ye have been scattered; and I will be sanctified in you before the heathen. 42 And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall bring you into the land of Israel, into the country for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to your fathers. 43 And there shall ye remember your ways, and all your doings, wherein ye have been defiled; and ye shall lothe yourselves in your own sight for all your evils that ye have committed. 44 And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have wrought with you for my name’s sake, not according to your wicked ways, nor according to your corrupt doings, O ye house of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.” [Bold emphasis mine].

N1 p861 to Ez. 20.33-44. (The passage is a prophecy of the future judgment upon Israel, regathered from all nations (See “Israel,” Isa. 1.24-26, refs.) into the old wilderness of the wanderings (v.35). The issue of this judgment determines who of Israel in that day shall enter the land for kingdom blessing (Psa. 50.1-7; Ezk. 20.33-44; Mal. 3.2-5; 4.1, 2); see other judgments, John 12.31, note; 1 Cor. 11.31, note; 2 Cor. 5.10, note; Mt. 25.32, note; Jude 6, note; Rev. 20.12, note.) “44 And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have wrought with you for my name’s sake, not according to your wicked ways, not according to your corrupt doings, O ye house of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.

Ez. 24.15-27: Ezekiel again made a sign to Israel (Cf. Ezk. 12.11). He is not to mourn the death of his wife.

Ez. 28: “25 Thus saith the Lord GOD; When I shall have gathered the house of Israel from the people among whom they are scattered, and shall be sanctified in them in the sight of the heathen, then shall they dwell in their land that I have given to my servant Jacob. 26 And they shall dwell safely therein, and shall build houses, and plant vineyards; yea, they shall dwell with confidence, when I have executed judgments upon all those that despise them round about them; and they shall know that I am the LORD their God.”

Ez. 34.11-31. Israel to be restored: the Davidic kingdom to be set up. “… 12 … [I] will deliver [my sheep] out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day. 13 And I will bring them out from the people, and gather them from the countries, and will bring them to their own land, and feed them upon the mountains of Israel by the rivers, and in all the inhabited places of the country. 14 I will feed them in a good pasture, and upon the high mountains of Israel shall their fold be: there shall they lie in a good fold, and in a fat pasture shall they feed upon the mountain of Israel. … 23 And I will set up on e shepherd over them, and he shall feed them even my servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd. 24 And I the LORD will be their God, and my servant David a prince among them; I the LORD have spoken it…..” (The whole passage (Eze 34:23-30) speaks of a restoration yet future, for the remnant which returned after the 70 years, and their posterity, were continually under the Gentile yoke, until, in A.D. 70, they were finally driven from the land into a dispersion which still continues.)

N1 p879 to Ez. 34.28 “Ezekiel 34:28  And they shall no more be a prey to the heathen, neither shall the beast of the land devour them; but they shall dwell safely, and none shall make them afraid.” (A beautiful order is discernible in this and the succeeding prophecies: (1) Restoration of the land ” Eze 36:1-15. (2) of the people Eze 36:16-37:28. (3) judgment on Israel’s enemies. Eze 38:1-39:24. Afterward follows that which concerns the worship of Jehovah that He may dwell amongst His people.)

Ez. 36. The restoration predicted. God tells that he will restore Israel for His names sake. This is a great passage of scripture. Ezekiel 36:22-38:  “Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name’s sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went. And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, saith the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.  For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land. Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God. I will also save you from all your uncleannesses: and I will call for the corn, and will increase it, and lay no famine upon you. And I will multiply the fruit of the tree, and the increase of the field, that ye shall receive no more reproach of famine among the heathen. Then shall ye remember your own evil ways, and your doings that were not good, and shall lothe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations. Not for your sakes do I this, saith the Lord GOD, be it known unto you: be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of Israel. Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day that I shall have cleansed you from all your iniquities I will also cause you to dwell in the cities, and the wastes shall be builded. And the desolate land shall be tilled, whereas it lay desolate in the sight of all that passed by. And they shall say, This land that was desolate is become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are become fenced, and are inhabited. Then the heathen that are left round about you shall know that I the LORD build the ruined places, and plant that that was desolate: I the LORD have spoken it, and I will do it. Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will yet for this be enquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them; I will increase them with men like a flock. As the holy flock, as the flock of Jerusalem in her solemn feasts; so shall the waste cities be filled with flocks of men: and they shall know that I am the LORD.”

  • N2 p879 to Ez. 36. “A beautiful order is discernable in this and the succeeding prophecies: (1) Restoration of the land (36.1-15; (2) of the people (36.16-37.28); (3) Judgment on Israel’s enemies (38.1-39.24). Afterward follows that which concerns the worship of Jehovah that He may dwell amongst His people.”
  • Notice, as in most prophecies prior to this concerning restoration to the land, that God also judges Israel for its evil. 38.16-20: “… 18 Wherefore I poured my fury upon them for the blood that they had shed upon the land, and for their idols wherewith they had polluted it: 19 And I scattered them among the heathen, and they were dispersed through the countries: according to their way and according to their doings I judged them. 20 And when they entered unto the heathen, whither they went, they profaned my holy name, ….”
  • Notice also the reason God restores Israel. 36.22-23, 32: “22 Therefore say unto the house of Israel, thus saith the Lord GOD; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name’s sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went.

Ez. 36:20-23  And when they entered unto the heathen, whither they went, they profaned my holy name, when they said to them, These are the people of the LORD, and are gone forth out of his land. But I had pity for mine holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the heathen, whither they went. Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name’s sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went. And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, saith the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.”

N1 p881 to Ez. 37. “Jehovah gives here the method of the restoration of the nation. The “bones” are the whole house of Israel who shall then be living. The “graves” are the nations where they dwell. The order of the procedure is: (1) the bringing of the people out (v12); (2) the bringing of them in (v12); (3) their conversion (v13); (4) the filling with the Spirit (v14). The symbol of the 2 sticks follows. The 2 sticks are Judah and the ten tribes; united, they are one nation (vs. 19-21). Then follows (vs 21-27) the plain declaration as to Jehovah’s purpose, and v28 implies that then Jehovah will become known to the Gentiles in a marked way.  This is also the order of Acts 15.16, 17, and the two passages strongly indicate the time of full Gentile conversion.  See also Isa. 11.10.” “26 Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore. 27 My tabernacle also shall be with them: yea, I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 28 And the heathen shall know that I the LORD do sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore.”

Ez. 37:15-28The sign of the two sticks.  The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying, Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions: And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand. And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying, Wilt thou not shew us what thou meanest by these? Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand. And the sticks whereon thou writest shall be in thine hand before their eyes. And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land: And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all: Neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions: but I will save them out of all their dwellingplaces, wherein they have sinned, and will cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God. And David my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them. And they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my servant, wherein your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, even they, and their children, and their children’s children for ever: and my servant David shall be their prince for ever. Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore. My tabernacle also shall be with them: yea, I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And the heathen shall know that I the LORD do sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore.”

Ez. 39.25-29. Vision of restored and converted Israel.  “28 Then they shall know that I am the LORD their God, which caused them to be led into captivity among the heathen: but I have gathered them unto their own land, and have left none of them any more there.”

Ez. 40.1-48.35. Israel in the land during the kingdom-age. Vision of the future temple. Vision of the glory of the Lord filling the temple.  The place of the throne of the future kingdom. The measure of the altar.  The offerings. 43.19-27. The gate for the prince. The priests of the future temple. Etc.

Ez. 43.7-12 “7And he said unto me, son of man, the  place of my throne, and  the place of the  soles of my feet, where I will dwell in the midst to the children of Israel for ever, and my holy name, shall the house of Israel no more defile, neither they, nor  their kings, by their whoredom, nor by the carcases of their kings in their high places….”

Hosea. See headnote to Hosea (“Israel is Jehovah’s adulterous wife, repudiated, but ultimately to be purified and restored.  This is Hosea’s distinctive message, which may be summed up in his two words, Lo-ammi, ‘not my people,’ and Ammi, ‘my people.’ Israel is not merely apostate and sinful—that is said also; but her sin takes its character from the exalted relationship into which she has been brought.
“The book is in three parts: I. The dishonoured wife, 1.1-3.5. II the sinful people, 4.1-13.8. III. The ultimate blessing and glory of Israel. 13.9-14-9.”).

N1 p922 to Hosea 2.2 (That Israel is the wife of Jehovah (see vs. 16-23), now disowned but yet to be restored, is the clear teaching of the passages.  This relationship is not to be confounded with that of the Church to Christ (John 3.29, refs.). In the mystery of the Divine tri-unity both are true.  The NT speaks of the Church as a virgin espoused to one husband (2 Cor. 11.1, 2); which could never be said of an adulterous wire, restored in grace.  Israel is, then, to be the restored and forgiven wife of Jehovah, the Church the virgin wife of the Lamb (John 3.29; Rev. 19.6-8); Israel Jehovah’s earthly wife (Hos. 2.23); the Church the Lamb’s heavenly bride (Rev. 19.7)).

Hosea 2.14-23. Israel, the adulterous wife, to be restored.

Hosea 13.9-16. The untimate blessing of Israel in the kingdom.

Joel 3. The restoration of Israel.

Amos 9.13-15. “* * * 14 And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them. 15 And I will plant them upon their lane, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the LORD thy God.”

N1 p1029 (Note that Matthew here as in verse 31 uses the larger word, kingdom of God. (Cf. Mt.6.33, note.) The kingdom of heaven (Mt. 3.2, note 1 Cor. 14.24, summary) will yet be set up.  Meantime the kingdom of God and His righteousness is taken from Israel nationally and given to the Gentiles (Rom. 9.30-33).

Luke 1.26-38. Here the angel Gabriel says to Mary: “32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.”

Luke 1.67-80. Zacharias, filled w/the Holy Ghost, prophesies. “69 And he raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David; 70 As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began: 71 That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the4 hand of all that hate us; 72 To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant; 73 The oath he sware to our father Abraham, 74That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear,75 In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.”

When Jesus taught the apostles after he was risen, they “asked of him saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?” Acts 1.6. “And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.” Acts 1.7. Notice, Jesus indicated that this would happen, but would not tell them when.

N1 p1148 to Acts. 1.11: “* * * Taken together, the N.T. teachings concerning the return of Jesus Christ may be summarized as follows: (1) That the return is an event, not a process, and is personal and corporeal (Mt. 23, 29; 25.30; 25.31; Mk. 14.62; Lk. 17.24; John 14.3; Acts 1.11; Phil 3.20, 21; 1 Thes. 1.10; 4.14-17). (2) His coming has a threefold relation: to the church, to Israel, to the nations.
“(a) To the church the descent of the Lord into the air to raise the sleeping and change the living saints is set forth as a constant expectation and hope (Mt. 24.36-44, 48-51; 25.13; 1 Cor. 15.51; Phil. 3.20; 1 Thes. 1.10; 4.14-17; 1 Tim. 6.14; Tit. 2.13; Rev. 22.20).
“(b) To Israel, the return of the Lord is predicted to accomplish the yet unfulfilled prophecies of her national regathering, conversion, and establishment in peace and power under the Davidic Covenant (Acts 15.14-17 with Zech. 14.1-9). See “Kingdom (O.T.),” 2 Sam. 7.8-17; Zech. 13.8, note; Lk. 1.31-33; 1 Cor. 15.24, note.
“(c) To the Gentile nations the return of Christ is predicted to bring the destruction of the present political world-system (Dan. 2.34, 35; Rev. 9. 19.11, note); the judgment of Mt. 25.31-46, followed by world-wide Gentile conversion and participation in the blessings of the kingdom (Isa. 2.2-4; 11.10; 60.3; Zech. 8.3, 20, 23; 14.16-21)”].

[“* * * [Peter, in his 1st sermon, preaches that Christ is the Messiah, an unwelcome message to the Jews bc they were expecting as promised, a regathered Israel established in their own land under their covenanted King (e.g. Isa. 11.10-12; Jer. 23.5-8; Ezk. 37.21-28).] Instead of explaining, as Rome 1st taught, followed by some Protestant commentators, that the covenant and promises were to be fulfilled in the church in a so-called “spiritual” sense, Peter shows (vs. 25-32) from Psa. 16 that David himself understood that the dead and risen Christ would fulfill the covenant and sit on his throne (Lk. 1.32, 33). In precisely the same way James (Acts 15.14-17) met the same difficulty. See “Kingdom (O.T.),” Zech. 12.8; (N.T.). Lk. 1.33; 1 Cor. 15.24.]

[distinguishes the “last days” when the prediction relates to Israel and the “last days” when the prediction relates to the church.] * * * “The “last days” as related to the church began with the advent of Christ (Heb. 1.2), but have especial reference to the time of declension and apostasy at the end of this age (2 Tim. 3.1; 4.4). The “last days” as related to Israel are the days of Israel’s exaltation and blessing, and are synonymous with the kingdom-age (Isa. 2.2-4; Mic. 4.1-7). They are “last” not with reference to this dispensation, but with reference to the whole of Israel’s history.”]

Acts.2.12-26 (Peter’s 2nd sermon): “21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began. * * * 25 Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.” See N2 p1153 to Acts 21 “restitution.”

The meaning is limited by the words: “Which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets.” The prophets speak of the restoration of Israel to the land (see “Israel,” Ge 12:2-3; Ro 11:26 also “Palestinian Covenant,” De 30:1-9. Cmt. on De 30:3 and of the restoration the theocracy under David’s Son. (See “Davidic Covenant,” 2Sa 7:8-17). Cmt. on 2Sa 7:16, “Kingdom,” Ge 1:26-28. Cmt. on Zec 12:8. Acts 15.13-17. Jesus declares the result: the outcalling of the Gentiles agrees w/the promises to Israel.  The restoration of Israel.

Ro. 9-11. The Gospel does not set aside the covenants with Israel. 9.4-5 gives the sevenfold privilege of Israel. Rom. 11 “1 I SAY then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid.  For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. 2 God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew * * *. 26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: 27 For this is my covenant unto them, and I shall take away their sins.”

N1 p1206 to Ro. 11.1 summarizes the fourfold mission of Israel. “Summary: Israel, so named from the grandson of Abraham, was chosen for a fourfold mission: (1) To witness to the unity of God in the midst of universal idolatry (Deut. 6.4, with Isa. 43.10, 12); (2) to illustrate to the nations the blessedness of serving the true God (Deut. 33.26-29; 1 Chr. 17.20, 21; Psa. 144.15); (3) to receive, preserve, and transmit the Scriptures (Deut. 4.5-8; Rom. 3.1, 2); (4) to produce, as to His humanity, the Messiah (Gen. 3.15; 12.3; 22.18; 28.10-14; 49.10; 2 Sam. 7.12-16; Isa. 7.14; 9.6; Mt. 1.1; Rom. 1.3). According to the prophets, Israel, regathered  from all nations, restored to her own  land and converted, is yet to have her greatest earthly exaltation and glory. See ‘Kingdom (OT)’ (Gen. 1.26; Zech. 12.8; NT, Lk. 1.31-33; 1 Cor. 15.24); ‘Davidic Covenant’ (2 Sam. 7.8-17, note).

N2 p 1204 to He. 11.1. “That Israel has not been forever set aside is the theme of this chapter. (1) The salvation of Paul proves that there is still a remnant (v1). (1) The doctrine of the remnant proves it (vs2-6). (3) The present national unbelief was foreseen (vs.7-10). (4) Israel’s unbelief is the Gentile opportunity (vs. 11-25). (5) Israel is judicially broken off from the good olive tree. Christ (vs. 17-22). (6) They are to be grafted in again (vs. 23,24). (7) The promised Deliverer will come out of Zion and the nation will be saved (vs.25-29). That the Christian now inherits the distinctive Jewish promises is not taught in Scripture. The Christian is of the heavenly seed of Abraham (Gen. 15.5, 6; Gal. 3.29), and  partakes of the spiritual blessings of the Abrahamic Covenant (Gen. 15.18, note); but Israel as a nation always has its own place, and is yet to have its greatest exaltation as the earthly people of God. See ‘Israel’ (Gen. 12.2; Rom. 11.26); ‘Kingdom’ (Gen. 1.26-28; Zech. 12.8).”

Is the Israeli Invasion of Lebanon WW III?
By Dr. Greg Dixon

Text:  Deut. 30:1-10

Introduction:  Once again the Middle East has broken into armed conflict. Instead of Egypt as in the six day war or the Palestinians under Arafat or the Hamas it is now between the Nation of Israel and the Hezbollah, a militant Shihite Moslem militia with thousands of rockets supplied by Iran (ancient Persia). Newt Gingrich, former speaker of the House of Representatives and now a Fox News commentator has said that this is the beginning of WW III. I do not dispute the fact that this is a most serious development that no doubt will, at some point, escalate into the greatest war of the ages and that being Armageddon. However WW III didn’t start two weeks ago, it really started 4,000 years ago between Ishmael and Isaac the two sons of Abraham by different mothers. This war has been raging ever since and will not cease until the Prince of Peace the Lord Jesus Christ returns and brings lasting peace to that region and, of course, the whole world.  However in the modern era WW III really started when Israel became a nation in 1948. Up until that time the Moslem nations had been great friends of the U.S. because of economic interests, mainly oil, but when the U.S. sided with Israel it was all over because, believe me, blood is thicker than water, I mean oil. No the Moslem nations do not hate America because of our way of life, they hate us primarily for one reason, America stands between them driving Israel back into the sea.

For this study we are going to examine the panorama of prophecy as it relates primarily to the nation of Israel and the last days including the 2nd coming of Christ. For this study we are going to follow the prophetic outline of Moses as recorded in Deuteronomy Chapter 30 before Israel had ever enter the land of Canaan. Basically it is the terms of the Palestinian Covenant – that is the terms by which Israel would be able to retain the land of Israel. If they sinned there would be chastisement and if they continued to sin their would be dispersion from the land. So their right to enter the land was based on grace but the right to stay in the land was based on their works or the law.

  1. Dispersion for disobedience – Dt. 30:1 “And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to mind among all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath driven thee,…”

Dt. 28:63 – “And it shall come to pass, that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nought; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest to possess it. 64: And the LORD shall scatter thee among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, even wood and stone.” Dt. 28:25, 64; (Lv. 26:32-39).

  1. Temporary Dispersion within this prophecy –Dt. 28:36“The LORD shall bring thee, and thy king which thou shalt set over thee, unto a nation which neither thou nor thy fathers have known; and there shalt thou serve other gods, wood and stone.” This Refers to Babylonian Captivity of 70 yrs prophesied by Jeremiah. (Jer. 25:11,12)
  1. A.     Explicit details that will happen during the dispersion – Dt.

28:35-35; 62-67.

  1. B.     The Lord Jesus confirms Moses Words – Lk. 21:21 – “And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.”
  2. C.    The evidence of the Diaspora (dispersion).

After the siege and total destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. almost all           Judea became a desert and remained that way for 1950 years until 1948. In 1163 when Marco Polo went to the land of Palestine he reported that there were only 1100 Jews in all of the land and just one Jew living in Jerusalem.

  1. D.    God will keep His covenant to preserve Israel – The land also shall be left of them, and shall enjoy her sabbaths, while she lieth desolate without them: and they shall accept of the punishment of their iniquity: because, even because they despised my judgments, and because their soul abhorred my statutes. 44: And yet for all that, when they be in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away, neither will I abhor them, to destroy them utterly, and to break my covenant with them: for I am the LORD their God. 45: But I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the heathen, that I might be their God: I am the LORD.
  1. The Future Repentance of Israel While in the Dispersion – Dt. 30:2 – “And shalt return unto the LORD thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul;…” (2 Chron. 7:14).
  1. A.     Preparation for this Repentance – This is where we are in prophecy at the present time. Lk. 21:24 – “And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.”
  1.   The Times of the Gentiles  Began in 606 B.C. When King        Nebechudnezzer Invaded Palestine and Carried the Jews Captive into Babylon.   (Dan. Ch. 1).

  1. This return by their own efforts will cause great distress for them and the nations of the world. Zech. 12:1 – “The burden of the word of the LORD for Israel, saith the LORD, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him. 2: Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. 3: And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.
4: In that day, saith the LORD, I will smite every horse with astonishment, and his rider with madness: and I will open mine eyes upon the house of Judah, and will smite every horse of the people with blindness.”

Jonahs disobedience to God caused distress to the Gentiles (Jonah 1:10 – “Then were the men exceedingly afraid, and said unto him, Why hast thou done this? For the men knew that he fled from the presence of the LORD, because he had told them. 11: Then said they unto him, What shall we do unto thee, that the sea may be calm unto us? for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous. 12: And he said unto them, Take me up, and cast me forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you: for I know that for my sake this great tempest is upon you. 13: Nevertheless the men rowed hard to bring it to the land; but they could not: for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous against them.”

The Lord Jesus said – Lk. 21: 25: “And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; 26: Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.”

  1. They will also try to restore their religious life without God’s Spirit – The Temple will be rebuilt on the Temple Mount and the animal sacrifices will be resumed. 2 Thess. 2: 3 – “Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4: Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.” (Rev. 11:1,2).

Their new Sanhedrin has been in place since 2004

Evidences that they are preparing to rebuild the Temple – c.f. Temple  Mount. com

They are beginning to prepare for animal sacrifices.

They claim to have the red heifer Numbers 19:2

They have a school in which they are teaching how to do the sacrifices.

They are trying to reestablish the Levitical priesthood.

  1. 6.       Universal hatred of the nation of the Jews & Nation of Israel

Among the nations where they are scattered – Dt. 28:62 – “And ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because thou wouldest not obey the voice of the LORD thy God. 63: And it shall come to pass, that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nought; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest to possess it.64: And the LORD shall scatter thee among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, even wood and stone. 65: And among these nations shalt thou find no ease, neither shall the sole of thy foot have rest: but the LORD shall give thee there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and sorrow of mind: 66: And thy life shall hang in doubt before thee; and thou shalt fear day and night, and shalt have none assurance of thy life: 67: In the morning thou shalt say, Would God it were even! and at even thou shalt say, Would God it were morning! for the fear of thine heart wherewith thou shalt fear, and for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see. 68:.. and…ye shall be sold unto your enemies for bondmen and bondwomen, and no man shall buy you.”

  1. Invasion of Israel by Russia and Moslem allies – Ez. Ch. 38 & 39 – Magog (Rosh), Meshech (Moscow-Eastern Capitol), Tubal –(Western Capitol), Persia – (Iran), EthiopiaLibyaGomer-(Southern Russia), Togarmah. This alliance includes Russia, Iran (Persia)  and their Moslem allies.
  2. There will be a covenant made between the nations and Israel and confirmed by the Anti-Christ when he comes to power and then breaks it in the middle of the Tribulation. Dan. 9:27 – “And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.”  This covenant will be in place before Anti-Christ, the Beast and last Roman ruler comes to power. He will confirm the covenant for one week or seven years.

Jer. 8:11 – “For they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.”

  1. Invasion of Israel by all of the Nations of the world Led by the Beast – ARMAGEDDON – Zech. 12:3,4 – “Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against erusalem.3:And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.” (Zech. 14:1-3; Joel 2:9-14) Rev. 16:16 – “And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.” This will be at the end of the Tribulation period.
  1. The Return of the Lord – Dt. 30:3 – “That then the LORD thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath scattered thee.” Zech. 14:1-3 – “Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. 2: For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. 3: Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. 4: And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.
  1. The Restoration of Israel to their land – Dt. 30:4, 5 – “If any of thine be driven out unto the outmost parts of heaven, from thence will the LORD thy God gather thee, and from thence will he fetch thee: 5: And the LORD thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it; and he will do thee good, and multiply thee above thy fathers.”  Matt. 24:29-31 – “Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
30: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31: And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.   (Isa. 11, 12; Jer. 23:3-8; Ezek. 37:21-25)
  1. The National Conversion of Israel – Dt. 30:6 – “And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.” (Rom. 11:26,27 – “And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
27: For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.” (Hos. 2:14, 16)

The Unpardonable Sin is Forgiven the Nation of Israel – Matt. 12:31, 32.

  1. The Judgement of Israel’s opressors – Dt. 30:7 – “And the LORD thy God will put all these curses upon thine enemies, and on them that hate thee, which persecuted thee.” (Isa. 14:1,2; Joel 3:1-8; Mt. 25:21-46)
  1. The National Prosperity of Israel – Dt. 30:9 – “And the LORD thy God will make thee plenteous in every work of thine hand, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy land, for good: for the LORD will again rejoice over thee for good, as he rejoiced over thy fathers:..”  (Amos 9:11-14)

A war only God can win

Posted on Friday 4 August 2006

Israel is not going to win this war. Only God can.

Psalm 83:1-18

  1. Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.
2: For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.
3: They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.
4: They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.
5: For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:
    6: The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;
    7: Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;
8: Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.
9: Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison:
10: Which perished at Endor: they became as dung for the earth.
11: Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna:
12: Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession.
13: O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind.
    14: As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire;
15: So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.
16: Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O LORD.
17: Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish:
18: That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.

V-4 – These are the exact words that the President of Iran (Persia) has said recently.

Israel no doubt will win this war with their superior military might but only God Jehovah (The Lord Jesus Christ) will save them in the battle of Armageddon.

The local church sanctified and cleansed by the washing of water by the word——————–A ministry of Charity Baptist Tabernacle of Amarillo, Texas led by Pastor Ben Hickam. "Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me. For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ" (2 Corinthians 11:1-3). ————————————Jerald Finney, a Christian Lawyer and member of Charity Baptist Tabernacle, having received this ministry in the Lord, explains how a church in America can remain under the Lord Jesus Christ and Him only. "As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen" (1 Peter 4:10-11; See also, Ephesians 4::1-16 and 1 Corinthians 12:1-25). "Take heed to the ministry which thou hast received in the Lord, that thou fulfil it" (Colossians 4:17). "And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church" (Ephesians 1.22; See also, e.g. Colossians 1:18).
